Entry routes into Training
Straight from School?
Yes, you can join THR straight from school if you have A levels with the equivalent of 22 points where an A =10, B = 8, C =6 etc.
You will be enrolled in the AAT training programme (Association of Accounting Technicians) which will involve you in attending day time courses and home study. THR will provide you with the necessary study leave and pay for your tuition and exam fees. Your work and practical experience in the office helps your studies. Full detail about the exam can be found on the AAT website.
Once you are AAT qualified, you will be encouraged to study for the ACA (Chartered qualification). AAT students are eligible for exemption from some of the knowledge modules of the professional stage examinations. Apart from this you will receive exactly the same training as a graduate recruit.
Been to university?
THR would like you to have a 2:1 degree. It doesn't matter what degree you have studied. Whether or not with THR, you will need to find a training contract and we would suggest that you start applying at the beginning of your final year. THR are an authorised training office for AAT, ACA and ACCA.
What does the ACA training involve?
You will embark on a training contract with THR which combines practical work experience in the office with professional tutors and home study. Your training contract will normally be for three years, but can extend to five years. The training contract requires you to complete a minimum of 450 days technical work experience and both stages of the Institute exams.
THR will pay you a salary and pay for your tuition and exam fees. Our tutors are based in Manchester and we will also pay your travel expenses.
Full details on the training and exam structure visit the ICAEW's website.
