Claire joined THR in 2001 after completing her A levels at college. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in December 2005.
"As I did well at Maths at school, I chose Accountancy to study with Maths & Business Studies for my A levels. I found out about THR through the ICAEW website, which listed firms offering a trainee programme. I then sent out a letter and my CV to THR.
THR supported my studies by providing adequate study leave and I could turn to anyone for further assistance with my work. They helped me move from A-levels to AAT and into Chartered training.
I like working at THR as I am able to work in different areas such as account preparation, auditing, VAT and book keeping.
My advice to anyone studying or planning to be an accountant is that gaining the work experience really does help you to understand the course material for the exams. Once you have dealt with the real situations, the study material becomes a lot clearer.”
